Bike and Barge the Seine Plus! Castles of the Loire

A week-long bike and barge cruise takes you along the Seine River Valley, passing by splendid estates including the castle and grounds at Fontainebleau, and through small medieval towns on the way to Montargis. Enjoy this scenic ride on easy canal paths, with frequent stops to sip café au lait in quaint French villages. Our boat for the week floats quietly along the Seine River, slipping through locks and under bridges while sumptuous meals are prepared onboard. This tour is ideal for anyone who loves the French joie de vivre, and those who are new to cycling and want to try bicycle travel without having to pack and unpack their bags. The extended Plus! tour land based with 3 extra cycling days that give those who want to keep exploring the chance to visit some of the most famous French chateaux including Blois, Chambord, Amboise and Chenonceau.

Bike and Barge: Amsterdam to Bruges Plus! Belgium’s Breweries

On this bike and barge tour you will discover the southern region of Zeeland in the Netherlands before dipping into the West Flanders region of Belgium. You’ll bicycle through regions known for phenomenal towns and gentle cycling terrain. Travel between the world famous cities of Amsterdam, Antwerp, Ghent, and Bruges and visit iconic places including Gouda and the famous windmills of Kinderdijk. Delve deep into local culture when we visit cheese makers, and a working windmill in the small town of Tholen. On the extended land based Plus! tour in Belgium, explore the battlefields of WWI around the towns of Poperinge and Ypres, and the brewing tradition of fine Belgian beers while visiting St. Sixtus and St. Bernadus abbey cafés.

Cycling the Dordogne Plus! the Vineyards of Bordeaux

Cycle along France’s Dordogne River which flows nearly 500 kilometers from the volcanic Massif Central region through deep gorges, steep cliffs, fertile farmland and famed vineyards to its mouth in the Bay of’ Biscay near Bordeaux. Our route traces the river’s descent from Cahors to St. Émilion by way of some of the nicest cycling routes and most hospitable hosts in Europe.  Not only will you enjoy stunning views of the Dordogne from the seat of your bike but you will also have the opportunity to float it during an easy canoe trip past La Roque-Gageac to Beynac Castle. Add visits to the Lascaux 4 cave, two nights in St. Émilion, wine tastings and great food, and you have one of our all-time favorite bicycle tours.

Bicycling the Danube Plus! Czech Republic and Prague

Pedal on one of Europe’s most famous waterways past gently rolling countryside, lakes, and through tiny towns as you bicycle from Passau, Germany through Austria and the Czech Republic ending in Prague. Every day is an opportunity to explore the colorful towns and impressive historical sites including a stop in the town of Melk to visit the Benedictine Melk Abbey, perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube river. You’ll get a flavor for the local food and landscape while pedaling past vineyards (and stopping to taste some fantastic wine!), through forbidden forests along the Austrian/Czech border, and into late Renaissance towns unchanged since the 17th century. Gently rolling cycling, bicycle-friendly paths and roads in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic make this region enormously popular for cyclists of all stripes.
