Bike Tours Cuba
Explore Cuba on a Guided “Support for the Cuban People” Cycling Tour
Join us and explore this vibrant country on one of the most extensive bicycle itineraries available for exploring Cuba by bike. Recent loosening of regulations has also allowed for a number of airlines to schedule direct flights from Miami and Houston into a variety of Cuban cities making this fascinating country more accessible than ever before.
Although tours in Cuba are listed as Classic style tours, there are a few elements that make this unique to the tour style and deserve your attention prior to booking a trip.
- With more than 50 years of trade embargo by the United States (and sanctions if other countries trade with them) and an economy that has boomed, busted and never truly found its way, Cuba is like no other place you have traveled. As a result, you will notice that buildings are in need of repair, sometimes including portions of the hotels we use. Air conditioning, though present in 100% of your hotel rooms, may break down. Hot water and water pressure can vary. Internet access is sporadic and hard to find. These experiences require that travelers possess a flexible and adventurous mindset.
- Due to material shortages, we will not be able to mark the route with arrows on Cuba tours. As a result, you will find increased Tour Leader and driver support on Cuba tours. You will still be able to ride independently and at your own speed without the worry to check cue sheets, tracks, or the fear of getting lost. Some sections may require that we ride as a group. Tour Leaders will discuss the upcoming routes during our usual daily briefings.
- This itinerary meets the United States requirements for legal travel under a “Support for the Cuban People” general license and therefore includes a full-time agenda of cultural activities – more than what we typically include in a Classic tour.
- U.S. residents flying directly to Cuba must complete required travel documentation prior to departing the States.
- On three nights of the Grand Cycling and Cycling Central Cuba tours you will stay in a “Casa Particular,” which is a Cuban-style B&B homestay with private accommodation.
